Dear Clients and Friends,
Did you know, according to Statistics Canada's Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS), 40% of Canadians over 20 years old and almost 80% of those over the age of 60 have some degree of hearing loss? However, 77% of those affected were not even aware they had any hearing problems.
Identifying and treating hearing loss early on is an important part of preventing the situation from worsening. Hearing loss can lead to anxiety, depression, social isolation, and relationship breakdown, or even some changes in the brain’s ability to process sound.
So how can we recognize if an individual has hearing loss? Some signs may include:
- Difficulty understanding speech
- Asking people to repeat themselves
- Favouring one ear
- Ringing in one or both ears
- Difficulty hearing in noisy environment
- Isolation, depression and irritability
- Family and friends suspect hearing loss
As part of our ongoing appreciation to our clients, we would like to invite you, your family, and friends to visit our clinic. For all of November, our hearing specialists will be offering complimentary in-depth hearing tests and hearing aid evaluations for you and all your referrals.
